AVERT Family Violence launch

On Thursday 17 March 2011, Attorney-General Robert McClelland launched the new national AVERT Family Violence multi-disciplinary training package in response to the growing need of education in family violence within a range of sectors.

The aim of the training package is to provide workers, at all levels within the family law system, with a practical understanding of family violence, its impact and appropriate strategies for responding which encourages collaboration between family law system professionals. Training package has been developed to provide a multi-disciplinary training package in family violence that encourages collaboration between professionals who are working in the family law system.

The launch was attended by over 80 people from a range of community organisations and from within the family violence sector. In addition to the DVD package, which offers a range of training programs including videos, expert discussions and assessment exercises, the training package also includes a dedicated website and online classroom; AVERT Family Violence Employee Induction Program. This online classroom assists to facilitate and structure a conversation between an employer and a new staff member.
