Video stories of separation, from those who have lived through it
Four new animations for families, communities and professionals
Relationships Australia is pleased to share 4 short animations that bring to life real experiences of separation. The stories are based on interviews with people who have been through separation. While identities and details have been changed for privacy, the stories and experiences remain authentic.
These animations are designed to support both people experiencing separation and the professionals who walk alongside and support them. They will be made widely available in early 2026. We encourage you to watch each video in full, as each story ends with an important message to reflect on.

Your choices after separation
Two separated parents and their two sons share their journey of separation. This story shows how children are affected by the choices parents make, and how the parents responded when one of their children was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
Being flexible and adaptive for our child
Two parents from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds tell how they worked through challenges after separating, from pregnancy, through to the birth and early childhood of their son. They realised that what is most important is putting their son first.
